These billets are drawn out to about 24 inches, then twisted clockwise and counterclockwise as desired. Sometimes there are untwisted sections arranged so that the edge of the laminate faces up. This results in the appearance of straight lines in the pattern between the squiggles and stars appearing in twisted sections.
